- Acts as spies - Buffer zones series of neutral countries between West and East Most of the Satellite states did not like to be influenced by USSR but had no choice

After WWII the world was changing. Nuclear power/bombs were now more of a threat and so was communism. Countries used spies to gain information on other countries.
