The taking of the home is lands (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) in Japan was a big deal because the Japanese would fight them to the death to protect the country. This helped them have a home base in Japan. The Manhattan project and the bombing of Iwo Jima and Okanawa were very significant because they are the first time the world sees Nuclear weapons.
