"Socialism in One Country" Lenin's Death and the Power Struggle/Leon Trotsky Vs. Joseph Stalin
Lenin was shot in 1921. After that he never fully recovered. He eventually died in January of 1924. After his death there was a great power struggle between Leon Trotsky, and Joseph Stalin. This brought in the entire "Guns vs. Butter" debate. Guns were heavy industry and military, where Butter was all about Consumner goods. Ironicly Leon Trotsky, the military leader, was on the side of "Butter" whereas Stalin was for "Guns". This struggle continues for three years, until Stalin finally comes out on top. He then exile's Trotsky out of the soviet union. He is later put on trial for treason in Abstentia. Because Stalin was afraid that he would come back and overthrow him, he sent his secret police to track him down and kill him, with the search eventually ending in Mexico City, with an ice pick through his head while he sleeps. Stalin then creates his slogan "Socialism in One Country."
