Feb./ March Revolution/ Provisional Government
The 1917 revolution began with riots and strikes on Petrograd. Because of this war the Tsar abdicated from Russia. The Russian people wanted to replace the Tsar with a provisional government. Because of this a Diarchy ensued. The Petrograd soviets and the provisional government were both very strong factions. At first the provisional government was led by Prince Lvov, but he was soon replaced with Alexander Kerensky. Both of their downfalls were that they attempted to keep Russia in world war II when the people did not. They became very unpopular.
